Austin Marathi Mandal is organizing a fundraiser to support these social projects.

Brief History of Jnana Prabodhini
The founder of Jnana Prabodhini, Dr. V. V. alias Appa Pendse (1916-1983) was an educationist, social activist, patriot, and an insightful leader. In 1962, he envisioned an organization for implementing the teachings of his inspiration, Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) to transform the nation through man-making education.
Jnana Prabodhini believes in integrating spirituality with modern technology to nurture and motivate human intelligence to bring about positive social change. Originated in Pune, India, its work has now spread into several villages and cities in Maharashtra state and in the remote states in North East, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chhattisgarh.
The key areas of its work are rural development, education, and research.

- Construction of borewells, embankments through community involvement to tackle severe droughts in over 100 villages in Pune and Beed districts of Maharashtra, India.
- Watershed development on about 20,000 acres with assistance from the Council for Advancement of Rural Technology and Development (CAPART), New Delhi, India.
- Watershed development for 137 villages in the Shivaganga and Gunjawani river valleys in Pune district, India which grew into a long term comprehensive development program for the region.

Women Empowerment:
Jnana Prabodhini seeks financial support from generous donors globally to make a significant change in grass root realities in India.
- Schools:
- A secondary school (grade 5 through 10) in Pune, India for intellectually gifted adolescents to create tomorrow’s leaders in every aspect of human life.
- Comprehensive schools (grade 1 through 10) in Nigdi, Solapur cities and Harali, Salumbre areas in Maharashtra, India striving to make quality education accessible to all.
- Kreedakul (Sports Academy) in Nigdi, India transforming the landscape of holistic sports education in India with 126 national and international titles won by students and alumni.
- Educational Activity Resource Centre:
- Teacher’s Training Centre for researching teaching methods and creating effective teachers across the length and breadth of India with over 3500 students and teachers connected from the states of Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, and Assam.
- Content enrichment for subjects like Science, Geography and Sanskrit for grade 9 and 10 with over 3.5 million students benefited.
- Prajna Manas Samshodhika (Jnana Prabodhini's Institute of Psychology):
- A Ph.D. research centre for exploring motivation, creativity, leadership, psychometrics, and quality of life.
- Studying 120 factors of intelligence and developing measurement tests that have been standardized on diverse socio-economic strata.
Women Empowerment:
- Developing leadership and economic independence among rural women through over 300 self-help groups touching 6000 families in 110 villages in Maharashtra, India.
- Organizing urban and rural women to address crucial concerns such as holistic child development and sexual education.
